The City of Encinitas SeniorPart-wayis proud to work with Kitchens for Good, the senior nutrition program provider as of October 1, 2015. Kitchens for Good is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower, nourish and engage the polity through healthy meal production, workforce minutiae and social enterprise. Meals are not only fresh and delicious, but moreover made from scratch daily with irresistible nomination entrees using local organic produce and filled with nutritious ingredients. Suggested daily meal donation is $4 for Seniors 60+ with a $6 forfeit per meal for month under 60. Reservations are required and can be made up until 8:00 a.m. of the day you would like to have lunch, by calling (760) 943-2258. Check-in for lunch between 11:00am and 11:30am.Trammelsit out!  To speak with the Nutrition Coordinator please undeniability 760-943-2257 for the current menu. No eligible person shall be denied a meal considering of failure or inability to contribute.  Transportation   Transportation is an important element to living well and living fully. There are several transportation options available. Out &Well-nighTransportation Program Volunteer drivers take Encinitas senior citizens to the grocery store, doctor appointments, pharmacy, Senior Center, and many other locations in Encinitas.  Out &Well-nighPassenger Application  Volunteer Drivers are unchangingly needed! The volunteer requirements for this program are a few hours of self-ruling time a week, a current driver’s license, registration, insurance, preliminaries check, and a DMV driving record.  The SeniorPart-waypairs a volunteer suburbanite with a passenger that would goody from the days and times that the volunteer suburbanite is available. There is a waiting list of seniors in need of a volunteer driver, so we welcome anyone interested in “giving back” to the polity to apply. Volunteer suburbanite information and procedures: The volunteer suburbanite will transport eligible senior citizens in their private vehicle. Boundaries include all of Encinitas/Cardiff.  The volunteer suburbanite may moreover travel to Carlsbad and Solana Beach to tried medical facilities and government agencies. The volunteer suburbanite will moreover be permitted to travel to San Diego to an tried accredited medical facility. The mileage reimbursement begins when the passenger is in the volunteer driver’s vehicle. The volunteer suburbanite will receive the current yearly IRS rate, per mile, per month, not to exceed 100 miles per month per passenger. The volunteer suburbanite will log the monthly mileage and return it to the Encinitas SeniorPart-wayoffice without the month is completed. Checks are issued to the volunteer suburbanite in approximately 2-3 weeks. Travel arrangements are made between the volunteer suburbanite and the passenger, based on the driver's availability. Their final act was to contribute the wastefulness of their remaining funds to the Senior Transportation “Out and About” program. The Foundation was established in 1997 to initially promote the construction of the Encinitas Senior Center. Once completed, their goal was revised to support senior activities at the Center. The Foundation unsalaried equipment and in-kind contributions in glut of $140,000. City of Encinitas SeniorResiderCommission The SeniorResiderCommission consists of seven members who are registered voters of the City of Encinitas. The role of the Commission is that of an newsy workbench to the City Council to research and write senior resider concerns. As representatives of senior citizens, the Commission works on projects to modernize the quality of life for Encinitas Seniors. The public is welcome to shepherd the monthly Senior Commission meetings at City Hall on the third Tuesday of the month at 2:00 pm.
